At first, I thought this book was going to start of with the typical conservative line on marriage, but by the end, I realize that Fox-Genovese was doing something more. She challenged the culturally engrained lies about "contractual marriage" started by the sexual liberation movement. Reading this book will make some women unconfortable, but in the end, it is true. Fox-Genovese supports all her claims with statistical evidence. All in all this is a very quick and challenging read.
