Lehrman American Studies Center at ISI

Peter Augustine Lawler and Kelly Hanlon

The Lehrman Center hosts receptions and sponsors events at the conferences our Fellows are most likely to attend.

Academic conferences provide crucial opportunities for professors to enter into academic life, whether through job interviews, paper or panel presentations, short courses, or just by meeting people. To help professors make the most of these opportunities, the Lehrman Center hosts receptions and helps professors organize presentations.

If you learn of a conference that may be of especial interest to the Lehrman Center, please let us know.

Next up: APSA in Toronto

ISI Books in conjunction with the Lehrman American Studies Center will host a reception on Saturday, September 5, from 7:30-9:00 pm during the annual meeting of the American Political Science Association in the Toronto Convention Center, Room 206E.

This annual reception offers ISI Faculty Associates as well as past and prospective Lehrman Center Fellows the opportunity to re-connect with other scholars in the field.

Also at the meeting, the Lehrman American Studies Center will be sponsoring a short course entitled "Creating and Teaching American Politics Courses in a Globalized Context and Curriculum." Four Lehrman Fellows will teach the half-day course (9:30 AM - 1 PM) on September 2, 2009 at the APSA meeting site.

For more information and a description of the course, read this PDF.

Please invite others to attend and we look forward to seeing you there.
